Basalt

Basalt

Basalt is a common gray to black volcanic rock. Basalt is usually fine-grained due to rapid cooling of lava on the Earth's surface. When crushed up and turned into an aggregate Basalt can be used for many different purposes within a landscape.
As mulch Basalt like other stones work a lot more efficiently than your regular day – to – day mulch’s. This is because the stone does not absorb the water where as your standard mulch’s do to a certain point and Basalt retains the water a lot more than any mulch’s out in the market. By using the larger sized Basalt aggregate it reduces weed infestation which lowers maintenance within your garden.
By using pavers and plants that are contrasting to the Basalt stone in a landscape creates a dynamic garden, especially in minimalistic gardens where strappy leafed plants are used.
